Stormy Skies

"I'm not afraid to dive
Into your stormy skies
Your beauty mystifies
And speaks in a semaphore"
~ Paul Van Dyk~
Looks like storms will continue to dominate the week ahead. I don't mind so much, as I am unable to get out and do any substantial photography right now. Life's chores keeping me pretty busy at the moment.

Besides there are some wonderful advantages to stormy weather. For instance, have you ever noticed that our summer storms bring more than just much needed rainfall to drought areas? Plants always appear so much greener after a good thunderstorm. This is due to the wonderful nutrients that rain provides. Even the llightening is a benefit by providing a potent fertilizing agent. Lightening strikes release nitrogen in the atmosphere and is combined with hydrogen or oxygen to form ammonium and nitrate, two forms of nitrogen. The nitrogen then goes into mixes into the atmosphere's moisture and is washed to the ground in rainfall. This allows the plants to absorb the nitrogen from the ground and utilize it for growth. Since it is a key element in chlorophyll, the green pigment of plants, nitrogen causes the wonderful greening of the plant.
